There are numerous varieties cultivated in the vineyards of Halkidiki, as well as the wines produced by the abundant wineries. The vineyards of Halkidiki give the PGΙ wines Halkidiki (Local Wine of Halkidiki), whereas the vineyards of Sithonia produce PDO wines Meliton Slopes (Plagies Melitona) and PGI Sithonia ( Local Wine of Sithonia). The vineyards of the Mount Athos (Agio Oros) give the wines PGI Agio Oros (Agioritikos Local Wine).
Με οδηγό την αγάπη για το καλό κρασί ξεκίνησε το 2003 η προσπάθεια της Κλαούντια Παπαγιάννη στην περιοχής της Αρναίας και της Μαραθούσας στη Χαλκιδική, σε μια ιδιόκτητη έκταση 200 στρεμμάτων. Από πεποίθηση και με αγάπη για τον τόπο, επιλέχθηκε από την αρχή η βιολογική καλλιέργεια και ξεκίνησε μια μεθοδευμένη επιλογή γηγενών και διεθνών ποικιλιών με βάση το μικροκλίμα της περιοχής. Η περιορισμένη στρεμματική απόδοση, αλλά η εφαρμογή των πιο σύγχρονων τεχνολογιών στην οινοποίηση συντέλεσαν στην παραγωτή υψηλής ποιότητας κρασιών.
Το 2006 ξεκίνησε και το 2007 ολοκληρώθηκε η κατασκευή του οινοποιείου, έκτασης 3.300 τ.μ., που περιλαμβάνει, χώρο οινοποίησης και εμφιάλωσης, αποθήκες πρώτων υλών και έτοιμων προϊόντων, χημείο-ποιοτικό έλεγχο, ένα υπόγειο κελάρι-κάβα 900 τ.μ., αίθουσα πολυθεάματος και γευσιγνωσίας και έναν χώρο όπου προβάλλονται, εκτός από τα κρασιά του κτήματος και άλλα τοπικά προϊόντα.
Την άνοιξη του 2007 το ΚΤΗΜΑ ΚΛΑΟΥΝΤΙΑ ΠΑΠΑΓΙΑΝΝΗ εμφανίζεται για πρώτη φορά στην αγορά με δύο ετικέτες, το ερυθρό Claudia Papayianni σοδειάς 2005 και το λευκό Claudia Papayianni σοδειάς 2006 συνολικά με 2.000 φιάλες.
Έκτοτε οι διακρίσεις σε ελληνικούς και διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς είναι πολλές καθώς και οι εξαγωγές του κρασιών του σε 21 χώρες μεταξύ των οποίων η Αμερική, η Αυστραλία, η Γερμανία, το Βέλγιο, το Λουξεμβούργο, κα.

The wines from Agio Oros are certified as “PGI Agio Oros”. The borders of the PGI zone include the administrative area of Agio Oros and the neighboring area of Ouranoupolis, in the Municipality of Aristotle, in a height of 100 to 400 meters. In the whole peninsula the agricultural methods applied are traditional, making Athos one of the most genuine bio cultivation examples.
A cruise to Mount Athos in 1963 of the late Yannis Carras was meant to be the beginning of a long story in tourism and winemaking. The rich coastline of Toroneos Gulf and the verdant slopes of Meliton were included in one of the biggest projects, Porto Carras, that Halkidiki ever had, during that time.
The wine-growing zone “Meliton Slopes” a zone of ideal ecologic conditions, in the west part of Sithonia, hosts many local and international varieties in the 4.500 acres of the vineyards. Among the red ones, the most dominant variety is the special Greek, Limnio, which is one of the most ancient varieties worldwide, about which there is reference in the writings of Aristotle. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cinsault and Syrah are some of the cosmopolitan varieties that have perfectly adapted on the breezy slopes of the area.
Malagouzia is another white variety that revived in Domaine Porto Carras. Wandering around the vineyards, visiting and tasting in a specially designed area in the winery, will certainly be a memorable experience.
The range of the white, rose and red wines produced the Domaine Porto Carras, are worth tasting.

A family endeavor for quality bio wine without additives, and with the traditional way of production, near Siviri in Cassandra, Halkidiki. In Domaine Tzikas there is also produced traditional tsipouro.

Near Petralona Cave you can find the winery of the pharmacist Christos Kalaitzis. Since 2003 there are white and red varieties cultivated in the 30 acres of the vineyards, which are certified for bio farming. The varieties cultivated are Merlot, Xinomavro and Sauvignon Blanc. The decision for low yield per acre gives gorgeous fruits, rich in flavour and aromas. There is also a cellar and a distillery in the winery.
The winery is in the left side of the road Triglia-Petralona, about 500m from the entrance of the village.

In Athytos village, known as Afytis in the ancient times, there are the privately owned wineries of Galani-Papaefthymiou family. The family, cultivated since 2012 bio local and cosmopolitan grape varieties, aiming at high quality wines, due to the low yield per acre.
The carefully selected position and orientation of the vineyards, the ideal territorial composition and the required ventilation of the vines, as well as the low yield per acre, there are cultivated local varieties such as Malagouzia, Asyrtiko and Moschato Alexandrias from the white ones, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, the local Limnio from the red ones. In an experimental basis there is cultivated and wined for the first time the white European variety Cabernet Blanc.
The wine labels of Afyteon Gaia Winery have been created by the Architect-Painter Niki Giannopoulou.

Some kilometers far away from Mount Athos you can find Domaine Agrovision. It was established in 2011 and the 64 hectars of the privately owned vineyards, extend from the North to the South part of the Xiropotamos area and are cultivated with Greek and international varieties that give excellent wines.
The territory of the vines is sloped and sandy and the orientation and exposure to the sun ideal, so that the vines gain the favorable effect of the sea breeze during the day. The excellent terroir as well as the French culture adapted in the Greek mentality gives excellent quality wines with great taste.
It is worth to mention that Domaine Agrovision is on board with the circular economy principles by utilizing the remains of the vinification process. The wine lees are used for the production of bread and pizza, whereas the grape marc is used as feed. The underwater cava that has been placed in the bottom of the seas of Ierissos, for experimental reasons is an attraction not only for wine lovers.

Iatridis Estate begun its operation in order to highlight the special characteristics of the terroir, where their ancestors have brought vine cultivation as immigrants from Minor Asia.
The typical Mediterranean climate of the area, the linear vine planting on the hilly terrains with loamy and sand-clay soils are directly oriented to the Aegean Sea mass and receive all the beneficial effect.
The charismatic local varieties Malagouzia, Asyrtiko, Limnio, Mavroudi and Xinomavro, but also international varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay that have been since years cultivated in the Estate, give their best expressions to the wines produced by Iatridis family. The control of vine diseases is applied according to the Principles of Integrated Management. The wines produced in the Estate are PGI Halkidiki.

Thodoros Koutsoubakis planted in 2001 in the area of Nea kallikratia his first vineyard, thus the family winery "koutsoubakis Estate". Some years later, the second generation of winemakers with his son Dimitris, continues the family tradition.
In the privately owned vineyards of the estate there are cultivated local and international varieties. In the minimal winery "wine garage" type, there are wines produced that give all the expressions of the varieties, that grow with the special characteristics of the microclimate of the area.

The connection of Papathanasiou Family with wines begins since the '30ies when a relative of the grandfather of the family was one of the cofounders of the Wine-Growers Co-operative of Pilea, in Thessaloniki.
The grandfather as member of the co-operative cultivated vines in the area of Pilea and produced wine and tsipouro that were very popular. After the urbanization of the area the vineyards were removed.
New plantations started in the area of Ormilia, Halkidiki in 1996. The first winemaking was carried out in 1999 and there was produced a white wine from the Chardonnay variety. Plantations of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah followed. The oenologist Aggeliki Bimba joined the team and this is how a new era started for the Estate.
Plantations of the Greek varieties Asyrtiko, Malagouzia, Xinomavro, Moshofilero, Vidiano and later on Mavrodafni and Moschomavro followed.
The wine produced at Papathanasiou Estate are excellent.

In the birthplace of Aristotle and of "Akantions oenos" in the east slopes of Holomon, right opposite of Agio Oros and the Siggitikos Gulf, you can find the bio vineyards of Akrathos Newlands Estate.
In heights starting from 550 to 700 meters, there are Greek varieties cultivated and the vineyards get the southern sea breeze, but also the cool and humid night winds from the mountains around, that are soothing the plants during the warm summer months, whereas the shallow, shale grounds ensure the low robustness and production of the vineyards.
The story of "Akrathos" Estate begins in 2007 with the cooperation of two friends and partners, Babis Bekris, from a wine-grower family in Messinia and Nassos Felonis. Throughout the years the company becomes a multi-shareholder corporations with others entering, such as Dwight Anderson from New York, Mark Rahovidis from London, Kostas Polizogopoulos from Greece, all of them successful professionals from different domains, other than wine-making but with great love to the wine.
In 2014 they started building the winery while the vineyards are expanding reaching today about 70 acres.

The wines produced by "KONSTANTARAS WINERY" come from bio grapes cultivated in the privately owned vineyards, 250 acres, of Konstantaras family, in the area of Agia Triada, in Poligiros.
It is about a linear, mountain privately owned vineyard of bio cultivation, with minimum or zero watering and with very low yield 700-800kgr/acre.

Oinos Grigoriadi was established in 2017, by Giorgos Grigoriadis, a Chemist-oenologist. His philosophy is producing high quality wines, from international varieties, such as Barbera, Refosco dal peducolo rosso and Cabernet Franc.
The vineyards are cultivated according to biological standards with respect to the environment and the high quality of the raw materials.
All of the wines produced are dry, with strong aromas and a pleasant aftertaste with respect to the characteristics of each variety.

Mylopotamos is one of the biggest dependency of the Holly Monastery of Megistis Lavras. More than thousand years since Saint Athanasios time, Mylopotamos produces communion wine (nama) from its vineyards.
In the vineyard of 50 acres there are cultivated Greek and foreign varieties such as: Merlot, Limnio, Cabernet, Moschato Amvourgou, Moschato Alexandrias and Roditis. The wine-making process is carried out in the modern Winery, which is built according with the traditional architecture of Agio Oros, with the traditional method of wine-making of Agio Oros more than thousand years. In the copper stills there is also produced tsipouro and spirits.
