In the mountains of Halkidiki there is rich vegetation and fauna. An interesting biodiversity of native plants, but also cultivations are made in ways that ensure environment protection and balance. Oregano, thyme, tea, camomile, marjoram, lavender, linden, rosemary and many more kinds of unknown herbs for cooking or pharmaceutical or cosmetic use.
Fruits and vegetables from the rich fields of Ormilia, silk vineleaves for dolmadakia or cans, forest fruits for local sweets, marmalades and liqueurs. Some of the special products are sea-fennel, luvidia (a special kind of beans from Neohori Arnea) as well as different kinds of mushrooms from Holom forests.
The Chamber of Halkidiki has launched a series of events, under the program “Agricultural Development of Greece 2014-2020 CLLD LEADER” in order to promote the gastronomy of Halkidiki.
