The developed farming of Halkidiki is the reason for its rich and quality meat production. Modern humans are more addicted eating meat compared to ancient people, who used it only in feasts and sacrifices. Cattle, goats, lambs, poultry, but also game are some of kinds of animals that are breed in farms in Halkidiki following strict rules for animal health and feeding.
“Matured” meat, special cuts and rare parts of the animals are cooked in several ways by creative chefs in the local restaurants. State of the art production units produce special meat delicacies based on traditional recipes.
The Chamber of Halkidiki has launched a series of events, under the program “Agricultural Development of Greece 2014-2020 CLLD LEADER” in order to promote the gastronomy of Halkidiki.
